Tagalus: The Dictionary of Twitter Hashtags

Tagalus

Tagalus is looking to be the Twitter dictionary for hashtags. The services allows you to define and create new hashtags for the Twitterosphere.

For example, if you are unaware of the popular #followfriday hashtag, you can find an accurate definition of the tag on Tagalus. Tagalus is seeking to crowdsource hashtags and their definitions with the help of service users.

Page definitions include previous definitions that users have recommended, several options for adding your own definition, Flickr and Youtube results, and real-time updates of when the hashtag is used.

  1. I think this is a fantastic idea! There are somany different hashtags (some are just silly and made up) others have an important presence.

    I often get a lot of emails asking about a certain #hashtag and its meaning. Currently the best way to figure out what it is, is to ask someone using it. I feel this will simplify a lot. Looking forward to using it!

  2. An ambitious project. Given the instant and evolving nature of hashtag creation, I wonder how you’ll ever keep up with it.

    I’ve used them quite a bit and find that there are still lots of people who have questions about how hashtags work and how to join in the conversation. I created this little tutorial… you could post something similar and get a bunch of traffic, I bet.
