TwitLit – published first lines of books

If you want to read the openings to books, apparently this Twitter account to search and follow is just for you.  The author of the Twitterlit site posts the first line from books twice a day.  The line is then linked to Amazon .  The link is their account I imagine so they get purchase referrals, but that is fine since it is a service.  They even have a site with books specifically for kids, KidderLit !  Nice

They make sure you can follow the postings by RSS, Twitter or buttons to other items like GoogleReader.  I was surprised to see a bookmarket that would show the first lines right in your browser.

This site is actually well baked, meaning they know what they wanted to do and attacked it from all possible angles.  Archives are sortable, you can search and even suggest books.

A winner
