TweetBlocker goes after one Twitter spammer at a time by creating a Twitter blacklist. You are able to immediately check any Twitter username without logging in by entering it into a simple box on the main page. Top spammers are listed across the bottom. The page itself is eye catching and done well with graphics of comic crime fighters.
you can log in to get a personal spam report and they have a bookmarlet to quickly report spammers you encounter. I will save my thoughts on Twitter spam for a true blog posting at TheSocialNetworker, it doesn’t apply to our site reviews for sure.
I tested the check to see if it is a spammer box at the top before logging in and got an alphabetic rating along with the reasons why. My sample got an A+ with the following:
- This user has been around for a long time
- This user has a balanced ratio of friends and followers
- This is an active user
I appreciate this and understand it, simple and plain. I then logged in, via oAuth, to get my personal spam report. One in there is a clean interface with those following me graded letters A+ down to F. I can see the avatar of each user and their percentage score as well.
From there I can invidually block each user or do a bulk blocking. I could sort by percentage score and grade. I could then easily click a details button for each one to see why they got that grade from the system. I humorously had a grade of F for one person with the percentage of 1. Definitely a spammer.
Lastly I could enter a name and report someone of being a spammer if I wished. This is an awesome tool that will come in handy. Beware that someone might get a low grade if they just signed up, followed some people and have not tweeted or have private feeds. Just a caution.
However it seems PhoneSexAngels somehow landed an A because they have been around and tweet a lot, with unbalanced numbers of friends and followers. But they will give you a discount if you mention twitter when calling, LOL.
