TweetTunes was sent to me via StumbleUpon from the site creator. Self promotion works when the site is clean, fast and visually appealing like this one it. Imagine an iTunes coverflow, but in a grid of the top tweeted songs on Twitter. You can view recent, random or all time tweeted songs.
The beauty of the site is that not only do you get the name of the song and the number of tweets, but an album cover or artist picture with each one in the grid. This is what makes the site so appealing. Clicking on any picture/artist name brings up a page with a ton of information broken into 3 columns:
- Recent and all-time tweets for the artist (col 1)
- Top albums (col 1)
- Top tracks (col 1)
- Artist bio (col 1
- Recent tweets to the artist on Twitter and about the artist (col 2)
- You can listen to the artist (col 3)
- A graph of Twitter mentions (col 3)
After reading the About page I learned that the application/site is powered by both Twitter and Last.Fm. A great thought on their part to hook the two together and utilize the power of each. Highly recommended.
