What the Trend is a new tool that provides much more information than other trending sites for Twitter. The kick is in the context around the trend:
For each trend, we give you a quick explanation of WHY it’s trending (these blurbs are edited by you!) You can also see the latest tweets, Flickr photos and news stories
Imagine that? Not only do you see the top trends, but you have input on why you think it is trending at that moment. I would like to see a revision history here, but they are just ramping up the site itself.
So how does it work? As the trends are on the page, you can click any one of them to retweet or edit the text surrounding why it is showing (URL’s are allowed but no other HTML and all links are no follow to help spam prevention). Below each edit area there is a collection of tweets, news and photos found about the trend also. This allows you to quickly see tons of information across Twitter and the web.
You can grab a RSS feed of all trends, or just ones with comments if getting to the website is too much work.
