TwtRoulette – view random Twitter accounts

Yes, you know where the name TwtRoulette came from.  You can view random Twitter accounts or even submit one yourself to be added to the pool.

I went ahead and clicked random and was presented with an ad at the top (not unexpected) and then a listing of Tweets as some random user would see them.  Much like watching the public timeline at any point.  No common theme, hashtag or list.  Just people.

I shortly got a prompt to add my own timeline to the roulette wheel.  However, even with the oAuth prompt, I did not like how it asked to read and update my timeline.  My stream is public and who I follow could be, so it should be able to just take my username and submit it, no oAuth necesary.  If they are protected then you can’t see it.

You get about ten or so tweets per page and have to click to see more.  You can also choose to see Twitter as someones timeline would be, which is interesting.

So this begs a serious question.  If I authorize oAuth to view the stream as I do and I see someone that has protected their tweets, can you then use this tool to see that person’s tweets?

Will this help me find someone new?  Not likely in the random sense.

StumbleTweets – stumble upon recent links in tweets

StumbleTweets only looks at tweets the last 6 hours that contains links and then sends you right to them.  You can limit what you get by using terms such as TwitPic or Blip.Fm to get only those.

Once it finds them you can esily retweet.  Basically this takes finding the best retweeted and reverses it to links that you can retweet.

They give samples of trending topics on the homepage to quickly get you informed on what is being talked about on Twitter.  My first stumble sent me right to YouTube.
