TwitWipe gives you that fresh start you always wanted to have by removing all, yes all, of your tweets. There is no archiving with this tool, the writer really means that it simply deletes everything and gives you that fresh start. Now I did find a conflict in one of the description paragraphs below:

Why not just delete the account and create a new one?

Doing so will create a new user id (the numeric id). It’s going to be a separate, new account. All your followers and followees and flurries will be gone! That’s why you should use TwitWipe, because it lets you keep all your followers, favorites and the people you’re following. If you’ve signed into any apps with your account, TwitWiping will keep all that intact. It’s like that memory eraser pen from M.I.B.!

As you see, in one line it says followers and such are gone too. The next sentence says they stay. So you have been warned if you lose followers.

It will take some time to run depending on how many tweets you have, so patience is a key in using the tool. They recommend you leave it running overnight as necessary. The site uses oAuth so no password information is stored and they joke that there should be no big deal, it is deleting everything anyway.

SCAM: It tweeted bad numbers, links and hastags under the test account. Stay away

This one was sent in and I was suspicious from the start called Followers Secret Monitor (1.01 beta). It appears for good reason. Using a test account I logged into the application with oAuth an gave it rights. I was expecting to see a list of who unfollowed me in some report fashion. Maybe by date or after what tweet.

Unfortunately what was shows was a screen with a very bad pull of the profile picture and a number of people that supposedly unfollowed the account. No times, no names, nothing. Except a button to find lists that will follow you back to grow your followers.

We have reviewed a tool like this before, but it read your current followers and then compared it to then show who stopped. I was unsure how this one could build the list without a start point anyway.

The site that runs this is TopTwitterShare which puts fun tweets on their homepage. So use this at your own risk to no result we have seen yet.

MentionMapp builds a visual map of hashtags and username mentions. It helps you drill down into related people and topics.

MentionMapp (from Vancouver) is a very cool way to see the spread and commonality of any username or hashtag mentioned on Twitter. You can then see how those relate to other topics and users helping you build a visual indicator of relationships.

Once the map builds, you can zoom in and out, click on a name or hashtag and the map recenters and expands again.

Click and hold to drag around the map for larger ones when you are zoomed in. You can share the MentionMapp with a simple retweet button since you must use oAuth to log in before using the service.

Luckily they do not send out tweets or make you follow them automatically like some services. Clicking the word MentionMapp takes you back to the default entry screen where they build a map about their product name.

We first mentioned TweetCaster back in 2009 when it was just a BlackBerry app for Twitter. Since then they have gone multi-platform opening the doors to iPad, iPod, Windows Mobile , Bada, Android and still BlackBerry.

The new interface is quite impressive in the three different operating systems I tested on. Sporting millions of downloads, they have an impressive list of features:

All the basic Twitter functions

Zip It- hide unwanted tweets without unfollowing people

Send to Instapaper

Color coding

Nearby searches

Multiple themes and fonts

Info rich timeline

you can read the full list here

The client is free with banner ads or you can upgrade to the Pro version for $4.99. I did not find the ads very intrusive on the iPad, so give the free version a shot first.

Psst, they also now make FriendCaster which is Facebook for iPad and a few other cool apps.

Using "Know Your Followers" you can get summary and full analysis on numerous aspects about your Twitter followers.

Know Your Twitter Followers is a very bland entry page announcing the beta status it currently carries. You supposedly can get questions to things about your followers like:

Where do they live?

Are they married or single?

What jobs do they do?

Which hobbies & interests?

Who else do they follow?

Their location geographically

As usual, we ran a quick test to let you know how it works. A quick oAuth approval and all I received was a python script error the first time. It took off the second time. In order to see your summary analysis you have to actually tweet the result. Mine appeared as the following:

My followers like Technology (27.9%), News (16.0%) and Politics (11.9%). #KnowYourFollowers at: http://goo.gl/pjg4A

I was a bit upset I could not uncheck the button to follow their service, even if I was allowing the tweet to go. I instead viewed the sameple report they did for Starbucks.

As you can see they give some good content that is generated from your followers. The full analysis breaks all this down even further. (See example here). They have a huge page on how they crunch and data mine the information. Keep in mind it is acting as you to run this so you may see and be able to report on people that protect their streams.

Twittelator Neue is one of the latest Twitter clients for the iPhone and iPod Touch to hit the App Store. It’s absolutely a beautiful Twitter client to look at, but lacks many features to make switch from what we’re currently using.

What makes this mobile Twitter app really stand out is it’s inline image and website embeds. When someone tweets a picture, a cropped preview of the image will appear just beneath the tweet. This cropped image theme also extends to profiles. It’s a very nice visual effect. When selecting a tweet that has a link attached, Twitterlator Neue will load the link just beneath the tweet, which we find to be very convenient.

Twitterlator Neue is full of nice animations, gestures, and menu overlays when creating a new tweet or deleting old messages. However, it doesn’t automatically refresh Mentions or doesn’t seem to really delete Direct Messages though it gives you the option to. You also cannot add anyone to a Twitter list from their profile. You have to go into your Twitter list and select “edit” to access the “add user to list” option. We prefer to add on the fly. At the time of writing this post, there was no integration with iOS 5 either.

While Twittelator Neue is beautiful and brings great new features to the table , we’ll be waiting for another update or two before we switch this app. Though if you don’t mind it’s currently available for $1.99.

PollMyTweets is a neat little service that allows you to send out a request to your followers to participate in a quick poll. Starting is easy.

Simply log into the site via Twitter.
Tweet using #poll: #poll Do you Like IceCream?
They create a link for followers to vote on.

From there you can see results as people respond. You can use the service as often as you need. I am not sure of any embedded ads or promoted items, but I am sure they will come up with something to make some funds.

I was able to find users already acessing the system. They are built a homepage showing the number of bookmarks made, the tags associated with them and then their Tiwtter stats for number of followers/following.

Images are brought in for each site bookmarked to give you a thumbnail approach. While not always perfect, many did help. I found user pages and a page with the most recent bookmarks made from all over. It gave me hope that this might prove useful. But..

I am guessing that development stopped as tweets for the account ceased back in November 2010. I would have written a longer review, but after authenticating with oAuth it said something went wrong and would never let me in any further.

Fllwrs provides you with a record of who follows and unfollows you each day on Twitter. Have you ever wondered why your count goes up and down, even with the emails you get from Twitter (or the awesome Topify) showing who follows you?

Logging into the simple page takes you to oAuth page where I ended up highly disappointed:

We apologize, but it appears you have too many followers to use this service at this time.
Please come back again in the future when we expand the service to highly followed users.

So I logged in via one of the EverythingTwitter smaller test accounts only spammers seem to have found. You then receive three checkboxes of settings:

follow @_fllwrs to get updates in your Twitter account (as expected)

post a tweet telling your friends about @_fllwrs (as expected)

automatically check followers daily and post a tweet with unfollowers (more on this one next)

Now I would like the service to check and maybe let me know time of day and after what tweet they left. It helps give an indication as to what content might drive people away from your stream. I do not want a broadcast list of shame going out to my other followers.

I did see a tiny link in the upper right for settings. Clicking that simply rechecked all of the boxes instead of providing more choices. I logged out.

I visited their Twitter page ( note the underscore for _fllwrs since the other was taken.). They have over 34k followers showing people probably used the service and left the box checked.

While I think having a service showing times of unfollowing, having it tweet them out would not be a good choice.

TweetWhen , from HubSpot, was picked up by @Alanlepo and we had to check it out. If you ever wondered when your tweets had the biggest impact, this site attempts to show you just that.

Sample report courtesy TweetWhen

You simply enter your Twitter username (if you are a protected Twitter stream you will not be able to use the service) and an optional email address. I checked to see why they ask for the email address optionally and no clue is given. I presume for a mailing list.

It will then grab your last 1000 tweets to analyze. Smartly it also says to register for an upcoming webinar while you wait. Great marketing move. As for myself I was told that Monday’s at 10am is my best time. There is a link to tweet that out, of course.
