TweetCaster – the upgrade rocks across mobile clients

We first mentioned TweetCaster back in 2009 when it was just a BlackBerry app for Twitter. Since then they have gone multi-platform opening the doors to iPad, iPod, TweetCaster logoWindows Mobile , Bada, Android and still BlackBerry.

The new interface is quite impressive in the three different operating systems I tested on. Sporting millions of downloads, they have an impressive list of features:

  • All the basic Twitter functions
  • Zip It- hide unwanted tweets without unfollowing people
  • Send to Instapaper
  • Color coding
  • Nearby searches
  • Multiple themes and fonts
  • Info rich timeline
  • you can read the full list here

The client is free with banner ads or you can upgrade to the Pro version for $4.99.  I did not find the ads very intrusive on the iPad, so give the free version a shot first.

Psst, they also now make FriendCaster which is Facebook for iPad and a few other cool apps.

TwiXtreme – the sweetest BlackBerry client?

TwiXtreme touts itself as an ad free, cool client for BlackBerry users.  The screenshots of the interface looked clean and easy to use. (I say this since I am just loading it for testing).

You can do quite a few things with the client:

  • re-tweet
  • see trends
  • get direct messages
  • find nearby tweets
  • upload pictures
  • search
  • favorite

It takes advantage of the screen real estate on the devices and the only restrictions seem to be the OS version, and not type of device itself.

The client is made by Xtremelabs, so you should pay them a visit and see if they have anything else you need since this is free.

Snap2Twitter – send your BlackBerry pictures to Twitter

Snap2Twitter, from the company SnapMyLife, is found in the BlackBerry AppWord and will allow you take take pictures with the camera in your device and send to Twitter with comments and a link back to the photo.  They have a giant FAQ on all the capabilities the software and site offer, which was comprehensive.

It seems they support most every mobile device with a camera and all is aggregated into their site which is nice.  You do need to register for an account, for free, on their site also.

Some users reported data errors until they set their APN information correctly.

TwitBreeze – BlackBerry Twitter application (not great reviews)

TwitBreeze is found in the AppWorld on your BlackBerry device for free and has some decent and bad reviews.  I personally have not loaded it and run Ubertwitter more than anything else on my BlackBerry for Twitter integration.

I searched the web and found TwitBreeze mentions for the iPhone version as well.

Tweetcaster – a new BlackBerry client challenger

TweetCaster brings a lot of functionality to the BlackBerry client world.  Most people currently use Twitterberry, with UberTwitter climbing quickly (my choice currently).  Well enter a new challenger.

TweetCaster does an excellent short video as an intro, showing off trends, searching and multiple Twitter account support toggling.  URL shortening is there with TinyURL and picture sharing is integrated.

The application itself is from Handmark tha tmakes plentry of other BlackBerry applications, so they are not new to this platform development which gives them some credibility right away.  You can get the client for free by singing in via Twitter on their site which sends a tweet you are trying the client.  Then it is your to keep.  A good way to use marketing balanced with a free client.

TweetGenius – a Blackberry Twitter client (not free)

TweetGenius for Blackberry touts itself as Twitter made easy on the Blackberry devices.  It sounds promising from their own description and they have some serious competition that is free.

We integrated a revolutionary UI with fantastic user-orientated features like the ability to compose a new tweet, start a new search, and view tracked items from any screen in the application. Shortcuts? Please. Basically every key on the keyboard is a shortcut! What about sending pictures and GPS location? Done and done.

There was no trial so I had to go with screenshots.  It looks to take advantage of the screen real estate a normal Blackberry offers, which is a good thing.  Keyboard shortcuts are a plus with no touch screen interaction.  The price shows as $4.99 right now with a normal price coming of $9.99    I will not be surprised to see them in the Blackberry App Store soon.

Try it out and let us know, I didn’t immediately jump up and down about it, yet I didn’t give it a full run either.

Blackbird – Twitter for Blackberry

Blackbrid logo

I was intrigued to see another new client for Blackberry but I was not impressed with the UI from Blackbird.  The plain text left me wanting more.

I imagine there will be more enhancements coming, since it is a beta version, but let’s wait ad see
