SpokenTwitter – speak your tweets

SpokenTwitter allows you to record a message that is tweeted out as a link so people hear your voice.  You can reply, retweet and more with their menus and they provide local access numbers across numerous countries.

Features: (via any phone)

  • Post spoken tweets to Twitter
  • Unlimited recording length
  • NO 140 character restriction
  • Voice tweet in local language
  • Followers, hear real voice
  • Tweet while mobile / offline
  • Local access numbers
  • Listen to Twitter text timeline
  • Audio playback of voice tweets
  • @Replies to tweets

The only way I see this being monetized is commercials and advertisers inserted at some point in the process of usage and growth  They have to store all of these audio tweets for retrieval and playback.  As well as index and make instantly available.

Twitterchat – a two way live shoutbox (with warning)

Twitterchat was sent over to use for review.  I am glad we had the chance to see it and tell you our thoughts.  The tool itself allows you to create a small embeddable chat box that offers realtime communication.  There are plenty of tools out there that do this across proprietary and other IM systems.  With the Twitter integration it does reach a different audience.

You are prompted to create an account on their system that exactly matches your Twitter account.  Username, password and email address.  This worried me right away and raised a flag why they were not using oAuth.  Why would I put my exact Twitter credentials in it?  However, there was a warning on the page you should not ignore.  It says to not use your primary account since it could then pull all of your private messages as well.  You are to create a new account to use.  This in effect defeats the entire purpose to me.

Direct messages seems to drive how the communication is done.  There was no good help files, no good About page and no information on reaching the developers.  Here is their actual account and chat box embedded for you to see a sample:

Twadges – yes some damn Twitter badges

Twadges, you knew it had to be coming.  Badges for Twitter.  You earn Twadges based on numerous measurements they make up.  From the number of types of Twitter clients you have used, to the number of followers your account has (I need another level for a new Twadge.  Even the EverythingTwitr account does).  A bonus badge and points is even there for you early adopters that joined before Oprah.

I won’t go into why these are totally unnecessary, I will leave that for TheSocialNetworker blog posting coming out at the same time.  There are over 60 twadges to earn, simply by entering your Twitter username.  No password or login required, which is a bonus.  So if you have a private stream it will have trouble generating most all of them.

So go have some fun and disappoint yourself in the number of points and badges you earn from Twadges.

tlists – search, curate and join Twitter lists

tlists allows you to search, curate, join and follow Twitter lists, a tool that is needed to make lists useful.  The main page starts you with a slick interface with some top lists and the hashtag categories they cover, as well as a search.  You are able to see the curator, apply to the list and even follow it.  Authentication is done via oAuth to Twitter for ease of integration your account.  You are able to add your own lists as well.

I authenticated myself quickly, with one of the best oAuth descriptive screens I have seen in the thousands of tools we review.  I was given views for:

  • lists I own/curate
  • share curation
  • have applied
  • follow

The charting of the lists showed stats on:

  • hashtags
  • members
  • followers
  • applications
  • tweets per day
  • balance
  • status of who can apply to the list

Right there I was impressed with the list management so I moved on to searching.  I searched for Lotus, as in the software and learned something unique the service offers.  It showed me matching lists and SuperLists.

SuperLists are real-time channels comprised of the most frequently ‘listed’ Twitter feeds in a vertical or geographic category.

The TLISTS aggregator adds or updates tens of thousands of Twitter Lists every day. These Lists are continuously indexed by their name, description, member bios and recent member tweets — and then, if relevant, sorted into hundreds of popular categories. Several times a day, the Lists within every category are synthesized to generate the SuperList.

The matching SuperList is the channel that most frequently includes your search query.

This was a great discovery!!  If you decide to apply to a list it actually sends a tweet to the list owner asking to be added.  A tad self presumptuous having to ask someone to be part of it.  Mainly when the only follower of the list is the list curator themselves.

Still a great way to find lists, follow lists and help be part of simplifying seeing massive amounts of content without following hundreds of people.
