Share Media To Twitter With Post.ly Powered By Posterous

You may recall seeing Post.ly after visiting a shortened URL from Posterous blog.  It’s the branded URL shortener for the blogging service that’s now open to the public, the Twitter public that is.

Post.ly is now a media sharing service for Twitter users and Posterous bloggers. From photo’s to documents, Post.ly let’s you send any file and convert it to a web friendly format for you to share. All media is hosted on Posterous and published online instantly with the option to auto-post everywhere.

There’s no word yet on file size limits (leave a tip in the comments if you know). Nevertheless, Post.ly will make uploading media to Posterous blogs a lot easier, and non-Posterous users can join in on the fun.

TweetWally – create your own tweet wall

TweetWally allows you to enter a hashtag, username or keyword and create a wall.  Authentication is provided via oAuth if you wish to save your wall for future use (including a URL), but it is not required.

Once the wall is created, you can add a description and tweak what is shown by adding mentions, from specific users or keywords.  You can assign a custom URL to the wall for future reference and grab the embed code to place it anywhere with different themes and colors.

I made a sample one for our event starting tomorrow, and I was happy to see it even had a projection mode!!

Flickr4Twitter – post photos to Flickr

Flickr4Twitter is a very new and raw site at this time but will allow you to post from Tweetie 2 to Flickr or via their website.  It uses oAuth and allows you to see what you posted and what other photos have been uploaded and tagged.

I wish there was more to say, but it is alpha and doesn’t have a completed UI yet.

TweetWave – advertising across Twitter (again)

TweetWave, which has an incredibly ugly URL of twee.tw/ave, is yet another advertising service.  They let you approve ads before they enter your stream and will not even allow you to be part of the network unless you have 1000 followers youself.  They state in an effort to reduce spam, but I am not sure how that matters.

Ads can be targeted to portions of your followers for niche markets including email notices of the ads sent across your network.

Twilk – your friend’s faces on your Twitter background

Twilk is a service that allows you to creatively use your followers avatars. In fact, Twilk will make a Twitter background using the avatars of your followers. Simply sign-in to allow Twilk to grab your follower avatars and click “use background” once Twilk is done. A preview of the avatars will be displayed beforehand. The background will also feature a Twilk ad, which you have to pay to remove.

Choose between the people you follow and the people that follow you, or a 2 column and even black and white only background.  There are numerous choices.  To change the background you must revisit the site, it does not update automatically as you change who you follow or as new people follow you.

I was about to ask how placement is done for the background and they had the answer right there on the main page!

How are people arranged on the background?

People are sorted by how much you mention their user name ( @ replies, retweets, etc ) in your Twitter feed. It goes from top to bottom starting in the first two columns on the left. If you mention people the same amount (or not at all), the order of those people will be random.

Tweem – a Twitter theme for WordPress

Tweem takes over your WordPress site making it a microsite showing up to 4 tabs of just the tweets you want.  You can list by user, tag or searches to make a place for someone to view your own Twitter content.

This theme is not free, only $15 from ShoppingThemes, and is a good way for a company to build a microsite with just their company tweeters, products or searches around their name.  There is no other filtering, so be careful.  A great way to have an automated page built for corporate sites in getting into social media.
