Great tools, apps, and services built around Twitter

DailyRT – the most popular tweets on the web and more

DailyRT is the hot meme’s on Twitter in a slick interface.  I liked the page itself immediately, which is hard to do.  You have:

  • searches
  • trends
  • live tweets
  • whats hot – in hourly, 24 hours, 7 days or all time

You can log in as your Twitter account or simply browse the site as is with no authentication required.  The site is ad driven on the right side, but it blends in nicely.  You are able to do a search without logging in, but you may maintain previous searches if you do go ahead and log yourself in with your Twitter information.

Logging in uses OAuth against Twitter, so one more bonus point for them.  All the hot retweets on the page show the current number of retweets found and allows you to simply click and reteet it yet again.

Searches can be filtered in many ways:

  • minimum to maximum number of followers
  • date ranges
  • limited to only those that you follow
  • retweets that contain links, images and/or videos
  • you can then save and name the search for easy retrieval

Lastly, there was Trends which simply provided a dropdown of recent trends and hastags.  A quick way to get a feel for the pulse of Twitter.

This could easily become a hub for those wathcing to top trends across Twitter and myself when catching up over a few days.

Great review of a site I have come to really enjoy. It gives me a more broader spectrum of information than my own Twitter page. It’s both fun and informative. Keeps me up to date with events happening “right now!” News organizations on TV & Radio, if I had them on live all the time, could not possibly cover and give “instant alerts” to present situations as quickly as I find on this site. DailyRT has their own Twitter page as well which gives additional alerts to the top-most current happenings, as well as security and spam alerts.
