ConvoTrack sat in my “get this in the catalog” to-do list. Finally I took the time and I am glad I did. It is a nice little add-on for Firefox.
This simple bookmarklet will load comments from Twitter, FriendFeed, Digg, Reddit, HackerNews and any blog mentioning the article and will load it in a handy sidebar.
They have a sample link (right here) that shows it in action. The filtering at the top as well as seeing all the conversation around a posting made the actual posting more enjoyable to me. I got to see commenting never left on the actual site. Something FriendFeed does in a way, but this brings them all together.
Wow, let’s take it a step further. You can even send the link to any page and the user does not need to have the bookmarklet loaded.
Send it to your friends
Want to send a URL to a friend with the sidebar preloaded? Simply prepend “http://convotrack.com/” to any URL like so:
http://convotrack.com/http://example.com/
The person receiving the link does not have to have the bookmarklet installed.
You can even place code on your own page that any visitor can click to see conversations. Imagine coupling this with Bit.ly and the ability to send the link. You could drive and see conversation. I might start using this myself.
I wish they would add one more feature and allow me to retweet, comment/like on FriendFeed or Digg from here and it would be quite valuable to me.
