Twemes – global tags for Twitter

How did we miss this one?  Twemes allows you to see a grouping of conversation based around hashtags that people place in their Tweets.  You can sort the hashcloud from 1 hour to 1 year.  There is also a mobile version you can utilize.  Simply type the hash you want to follow and off you go.  Now just get everyone to actually use the tag in their postings to group them.

Twemes has actually been around for quite a while. In fact, I’d be willing to bet it’s what tipped off the guys (now working for Twitter) that started Summize.

I loved Twemes when it got started because they looked at hashtags appearing not only on Twitter but also in places like Flickr and Delicious.

Lately Twemes hasn’t been as effective at tracking tags because Twitter changed some of the parameters for tracking keywords. The prelude to Twemes was Hashtags.org.

The best bet for tracking hashtags these days is to use Twitter Search, found at http://search.twitter.com
